Remote Desktop Issues

How to resolve issues with Remote Desktop Protocol

Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) does not use the system’s video drivers but rather RDP’s drivers… things like DirectX’s Direct 3D and Windows components that use DirectX to render colorspaces etc, to a computer screen via the GFX drivers. When RDP is used for remote access, it limits Iris to using that display. A great way to get around this is to use something like Teamviewer to access the system and then you won’t see those errors.

When you see those errors after you click through them, the content gets played/displayed but all of the decoding is being done in CPU alone with no DirectX assistance.

The vectorscope, video waveform, spectrascope, audio meter, audio waveform and audio phase tools use Direct3D instead of Windows GDI, if not available error messages will alert and scopes will not display readings properly.

Installer no longer has options for SDI driver versions. Iris now auto-detects which driver version is installed in the system and copies the appropriate DLLs for operation. User will be prompted to allow the changes if required. All SDI card driver installations must be done before installing Iris.
